Also, I want to take the time to acknowledge that Jemisin is a hardworking writer. I believe these books were all published within a year of one another and I’d like to imagine that she had everything nicely outlined and planned out before beginning the first draft. But it’s still impressive that she managed to publish three, phenomenal, award-winning books in such a short amount of time!

Set in the Stillness once again, The Obelisk Gate, primarily follows two characters, Essun and her missing daughter Nassun, though there are brief interludes from Hoa, the stone-eater who follows Essun. (Read the first book to learn why Damaya and Syenite “disappear” from the narrative.)

The Fifth Season: Review

This entire series is packed with scenes, characters and dialogue to sift through. Though it’s not dense, unlike “The Three-Body Problem” (which I plan to finish soon, likely in March.) But I don’t want to discuss this series as a whole until I review the final book. Until then, I’ll do my best to focus on the individual books.
